Deborah took on the role as Director of Education for Manchester Diocese in November 2019. Previously she had worked as Deputy Director of Education for Carlisle Diocese. Deborah has over 30 years’ experience in education and has taught across Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 through to Higher Education. As a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool Hope University she delivered on both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, specialising in Early Childhood Studies and Religious Education. She has a Master of Science degree in Education and is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching. She is also an experienced SIAMS inspector. She is passionate about the way education can open opportunities for all children and supports the Church of England vision for education of ‘life in all its’ fullness’ being made available to all. Within her current role she supports the 192 Church of England schools across Manchester Diocese as well as Church of England Multi Academy Trusts to ensure the needs of children are central to all decisions. She is a member of several Multi Academy Trusts across Manchester Diocese and a Director of DBE Services, a company run in partnership with other North West Dioceses.
He has been a St Bede’s Academy Trust Member (governor since Oct 11), has been deputy chair of governors since Feb 14 and a member of the finance committee and board of governors since Oct 11. He is a senior manager, working for the Nat West Bank, with a service record of 29 years. Skills include the provision of commercial finance, corporate restructuring solutions, Financial Analysis, Relationship Management, Service Level maintenance and Business Development.
Currently the Vicar of St Bede Church, and has been part of the St Bede family since 2019. A Trust Member of the St Bede Multi-Academy Trust as well as serving on the Local Governing Board. Vincent has many years’ experience of governance in education; having served as a governor, trustee and member of other schools and MATs within the Bolton area. Vincent’s interest lies in developing the school vision and the distinctive Christian Ethos of St Bede Academy and the MAT and he regularly leads collective worship within St Bede Academy and supports the amazing pupil Ethos group there. He is immensely proud of the relationship that St Bede Church has with St Bede Academy and is committed to developing this further in the years to come
Venerable Jean Burgess has been the Archdeacon of Bolton and Salford since March 2018. Prior to that she was at the Parish of St Alkmund’s and St Werburgh’s in Derby. From 2008 as interim minister and from 2013 at Incumbent. Archdeacon Jean is keen to support festivals, celebrations and events in the school setting. Supporting Headteachers by pastoral visiting when able. Pre-pandemic she regularly took assemblies. She finds the Heads in particular are very grateful for the support and listening ear, which goes beyond just turning up for business meetings. She loves getting to know the children and seeing their faith develop through the ethos groups. She is married, has three children and 5 grandchildren.
Revd Simon Cook has been Area Dean of Bolton since June 2021 – and prior to that was a parish priest in Bury for 10 years, and a curate in Salford for 3 years. He is passionate about education and the difference it makes to young people, families and the wider communities around them – and the role of Church Schools in promoting the common good for people of all faiths and none, based on the teaching and example of Jesus Christ. He has served as a governor or member of a number of Primary and High Schools and Academy Trusts, and as a trustee for several charities. He is married to a Headteacher and has two sons.
